A Black Hole Offensively

David Kampf only had one goal in fifty five games prior to his coming to the Toronto Maple Leafs last year as an unrestricted free agent signing.

So when Toronto Maple Leafs general manager, Kyle Dubas, shoved a two year deal paying $1.5M annually under Kampf's snoot, I just figured it was the "league's most generous GM" doing what he does best again.

It seemed to me that, no matter how good Kampf was defensively, it wouldn't make up for the fact he was a black hole offensively.

I wasn't far off.

Cement Hands

Kampf has cinder blocks attached at the wrists where you would normally find hands.

That's why he only had eleven goals last year, and only has four so far this year.

At $1.5M he's cheap though, and that's always an attractive quality in a player given the Toronto Maple Leafs Studs'n'Duds approach to roster building.

The Leafs try to pass off Kampf's lack of production by letting on that he's elite defensively, but all that really means is he can't score.

Like me in high school.

Will David Kampf Be Back?

Who cares?

The only person who bought his jersey is his mom.

Kampf is a third line chump and if he thinks he can get more than what the Toronto Maple Leafs can pay him then he should go for it.

I don't expect Kampf will get a huge raise but, given the Toronto Maple Leafs cap situation, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kampf replaced by an even cheaper dud next year.

The studs stay the same while the duds keep getting worse.
