I bought a cassette tape a long time ago out of the bargain bin for $2.00.
It was called "Cheech and Chong's Big Rip Off". Something like that. I loved Cheech and Chong, so I was excited to get such a good deal. I ran home and threw it in the tape deck and listened for what I was sure to be a barrel of laughs.
All it was both sides was Cheech and Chong saying things like "We ripped you off man".
They sure did.
I can't pass up a deal. Which is why when I saw this year's Toronto Maple Leafs calendar on sale half price at the pharmacy earlier this week I bought it.
I buy one every year for my son.
But this year I swore I wasn't going to get buy anything ML$E until they won something in the playoffs. Then I saw the calendars on sale, and I'm cheap, so you figure it out.
Last year's calendar only had Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander, Brodie, and Rielly in it. They all got two months each. Jake Muzzin was the picture for the four little months to end the year. This year's calendar at least had thirteen different players.
Jack Campbell is February.
Of course he is. Why wouldn't he be? David Kampf is August and Pierre Engvall is September.
Michael Bunting is December.
Calendars are good for fond memories. This is one I'll never forget. Good times. I'm such a sucker for my kid.
And just a sucker.
Period.
